No need to be rude like that. The "x" button is actually a sort of collapse. It doesn't delete your text.
But yeah, this has annoyed me for some time too. My preferred solution would be to have the the text box appear at the bottom of the screen, with enough space at the bottom of the page for the reply box to fit after the last post when scrolled-down.
