P8299 The Lesser Evil II link reply
The amount of surveillance and tracking that exists on the modern Internet cannot be overstated. The majority of websites that exist today serve essentially as datamining operations, whose abilities to identify and track users have never been stronger. With IP addresses, browser fingerprints, fingerprinting based on keystrokes and mouse movements, security vulnerabilities, and much more, one can conclude that a good place to start is to configure a browser in such a way that prevents such things from being exploited, at least in a meaningful way. However, many websites, especially those that are most commonly used, don't exactly play nice with such a setup. There lies the problem that we seek to work around.
This thread is dedicated to the disclosure and discussion of websites that are useful to Internet users who are intent on avoiding modern surveillance. All websites mentioned ITT should meet three criteria:
1. Does not block Tor.
2. Retains key functionality with JavaScript disabled.
3. Is not behind a paywall.
I'll start by listing some of the ones that I know.

[bold: FRONTENDS FOR VIDEO SERVICES]

[bold: Invidious]
~ Allows you to search and browse YouTube from the instance you visit.
~ Allows download of videos in 720p by default.
~ If you care, you may want to check "Proxy videos" in the preferences (button just left of "LOG IN") to not download directly from googlevideo. However, since you're downloading over Tor, it shouldn't matter either way.
~ Occasionally (I'd say about 1 in 100 videos), downloading specific videos can fail for no apparent reason. I've found that for videos that persistently fail to download in the same way across multiple attempts, lowering the preferred video quality in the preferences to "Medium" resolves it.
~ Without JavaScript, browsing YouTube comments is limited to the first page of original comments (replies not included).
~ Available instances include a plentitude of clearnet websites and many onionsites (probably eepsites too, just they're not on the instance list I'm linking).
Instance list: https://api.invidious.io/

[bold: Librarian]
~ Allows you to search and browse Odysee from the instance you visit.
~ Allows download of videos in 1080p by default.
~ Videos that are labeled NSFW as well as comments are not viewable without JavaScript, due to the fact that settings cannot be changed without JavaScript. Nonetheless, the above functionality remains.
~ Available instances include a few clearnet websites. Onionsite instances may be available, but I cannot name them due to the reason below.
Instance list: Unfortunately, no such thing is available that is viewable without JavaScript for now. Two instances are https://librarian.pussthecat.org/ or https://lbry.bcow.xyz/

[bold: ProxiTok]
~ Allows you to search and browse TikTok from the instance you visit. You can search by username or tag, a specific TikTok URL, or music and video IDs.
~ Allows download of videos.
~ Viewing comments is not available.
~ Available instances include several clearnet websites and one onionsite.
Instance list: https://github.com/pablouser1/ProxiTok/wiki/Public-instances

[bold: SimpleerTube]
~ Allows you to view PeerTube from the instance you visit. Your mileage may vary when attempting to search, as the search engine is dogshit. Therefore, it is advised that you know the PeerTube instance that has exactly what you're looking for, and paste it to the end of the URL of your SimpleerTube instance, like so: http://simpleertube.lqs5fjmajyp7rvp4qvyubwofzi6d4imua7vs237rkc4m5qogitqwrgyd.onion/videos.lukesmith.xyz (change "videos.lukesmith.xyz" to your preferred instance)
~ Allows download of videos in varying resolutions. For example, a 1080p video may be available in 1080p and 480p some times, other times available in 1080p, 480p and 360p.
~ Comments are viewable.
~ Available instances include several clearnet websites, a few onionsites, and one eepsite.
Instance list: https://simple-web.org/projects/simpleertube.html

[bold: PornInvidious]
~ Allows you to search and browse XVideos from the instance you visit. Your mileage may vary due to the fact that your search will only be for videos, ostensibly based on their filenames on XVideos' servers.
~ Allows download of videos and appears to suggest similar videos below the page that you're on.
~ Available instances include one clearnet website and one onionsite.
[spoiler: I don't really use this.]
Instance list: https://simple-web.org/projects/porninvidious.html

[bold: FRONTENDS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA]

[bold: Nitter]
~ Allows you to search and browse Twitter from the instance you visit. It tells you to enter a username on the homepage, however you can type anything in and it will search for tweets as well if you switch to the tab for it afterward.
~ Videos cannot be viewed without JavaScript, all other media appears to be viewable.
~ Past tweets of a specific individual can be searched from their page, allowing for you to dig through their past to find a reason to get them cancelled.
~ Available instances include more clearnet websites we need, a plentitude of onionsites, several eepsites, and one SNApp.
Instance list: https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/Instances

[bold: Bibliogram]
~ Allows you to view Instagram posts. You need the shortcode or URL of a specific post. Profiles are not viewable.
~ It literally just got officially discontinued today (it might have only been minutes before I decided I would write this post today lol): https://cadence.moe/blog/2022-09-01-discontinuing-bibliogram
~ Available instances include many clearnet websites and a few onionsites.
Instance list: https://git.sr.ht/~cadence/bibliogram-docs/tree/master/docs/Instances.md

[bold: Teddit]
~ Allows you to search and browse Reddit from the instance you visit in a theme similar to Reddit's old theme.
~ As far as viewing anything goes, the only notable limitations are on viewing quarantined subreddits, which show up as "403," and playing video.
~ Banned subreddits show up as 404.
~ Available instances include a plentitude of clearnet websites, several onionsites, and several eepsites.
Instance list: https://codeberg.org/teddit/teddit

[bold: Libreddit]
~ Allows you to search and browse Reddit from the instance you visit in a theme similar to Reddit's new theme.
~ Similar to Teddit, the only notable limitation on viewing content is on quarantined subreddits, which are indicated as such when you try to view them. Pressing the continue button does not, in fact, actually let you continue to the subreddit (at least on a noJS Tor setup). Videos can be played without audio without JS.
~ In contrast to Teddit, banned subreddits are clearly indicated, with the page saying "/r/(subreddit) has been banned from Reddit"
~ Available instances include more clearnet websites than we need and a plentitude of onionsites.
Instance list: https://github.com/spikecodes/libreddit

[bold: Quetre]
~ Allows you to view Quora. Searches are not possible at present. You will need the link of the specific question. (Though, similar questions will be suggested once you give one link)
~ Only a few of the answers to a question are shown.
~ Available instances include many clearnet websites and one onionsite.
Instance list: https://github.com/zyachel/quetre

[bold: OTHER FRONTENDS]

[bold: Scribe]
[bold: Note: Using this might be counterproductive for anonymity as there is already little limitation on noJS Tor users viewing Medium articles.]
~ Allows you to view Medium posts. You will need the link for it.
~ Available instances include several clearnet websites.
Instance list: Couldn't find one directly. A quick glance at the feed at https://sr.ht/~edwardloveall/Scribe/ mentions these instances: scribe.rip, scribe.rawbit.ninja, sc.vern.cc, scribe.privacydev.net

[bold: SimplyTranslate]
~ Allows you to use Google Translate, ICIBA, Reverso, LibreTranslate and DeepL. Some instances include all of these, others only one.
~ No notable limitations! ;)
~ Available instances include a plentitude of clearnet websites, several onionsites, one eepsite, and one SNApp.
Instance list: https://simple-web.org/projects/simplytranslate.html

[bold: Rimgo]
~ Allows you to view Imgur. Swap imgur.com or i.imgur.com with a Rimgo instance.
~ That's it, really. It allows you to view image links from Imgur when it isn't otherwise possible in a noJS Tor setup.
~ Available instances include many clearnet websites and a few onionsites.
Instance list: https://codeberg.org/video-prize-ranch/rimgo

[bold: Wikiless]
[bold: Note: Using this might be counterproductive for anonymity as there is already little limitation on noJS Tor users accessing Wikipedia content.]
~ Allows you to search and browse Wikipedia from the instance you visit.
~ As far as viewing things goes, there aren't any notable limitations.
~ Available instances include many clearnet websites, several onionsites, and a few eepsites.
Instance list: https://codeberg.org/orenom/wikiless

[bold: Libremdb]
[bold: Note: Using this might be counterproductive for anonymity since it actually gives you less functionality than IMDb on a noJS Tor setup.]
~ Allows you to view IMDb.
~ Images are served from Amazon's servers. Over Tor, this shouldn't really matter.
~ Available instances include several clearnet websites and one onionsite.
Instance list: https://github.com/zyachel/libremdb
For databases of visual novels and anime specifically, P7851 brought [bold: Vndb] and [bold: AniDB] to my attention.

[bold: PROXY SERVICES]
~ These allow you to view some websites over Tor that you normally wouldn't be able to. Please note that the operators of these services will know the traffic that you send.
Links: https://4everproxy.com and https://kproxy.com

[bold: FILE HOSTS]

All of the below allow content to be uploaded encrypted.

[bold: DMCAsorry]
~ Basically as straightforward as it can get. Just select a file on your computer and press upload, and a hyperlink will appear that takes you to a download link that you can share.
~ No upload size limit is stated.
~ If you get an error saying that there can only be one user per IP address, simply hit Ctrl+Shift+L to change Tor circuits until it's resolved.
~ Files are generally kept for months.
Link: https://dmcasorry.com

[bold: 1fichier]
~ Slightly less straightforward then DMCAsorry, but still easy. Upload a file and get the download link. To be able to download from that link without JavaScript, you need to hit these buttons on your keyboard in order to disable CSS for the page: Alt, V, Y, N. A simple gray download button will appear beside the unusable download button that appears normally. Press it, and then, on the page you're taken to, click the hyperlink: "Click here to download the file."
~ The upload size limit is far higher than you could upload over Tor at one time (300GB).
~ If you see a message about having to wait, Ctrl+Shift+L to change Tor circuits until it isn't there anymore.
~ "Files can be removed after 15 days without downloads for guests,"
Link: https://1fichier.com/

[bold: AnonFiles and BayFiles]
~ They are ostensibly the same host.
~ These can be uploaded to without JavaScript with just a curl command (mentioned below). Downloads are just one click in the browser.
~ The upload size limit is 20GB, at the upper limit of what you could reasonably upload over Tor's speeds.
~ Files are generally kept for months, that is, assuming someone doesn't report your upload for CP. (They will remove it without investigation in that case)
Command: torsocks -i curl -F file=@filename.ext https://api.anonfiles.com/upload
You will be given a link once it's done.
For those who use an operating system that forces all traffic over Tor by default, such as Whonix or Tails, the "torsocks -i" part isn't needed (but wouldn't hurt). https://api.anonfiles.com/upload is interchangeable with https://api.bayfiles.com/upload

[bold: Cockfile]
~ Same deal as DMCAsorry, select file, submit, get link, share.
~ The upload size limit is only 128 MiB.
~ Files are only kept for 24 hours. Therefore, it's only good for something you might quickly share on IRC.
Link: https://cockfile.com/

[bold: Uguu.se]
~ See Cockfile, except files are kept for 48 hours.
Link: https://uguu.se/

[bold: IMAGEBOARDS]

[bold: 8chan.moe]
~ Onionsite for an imageboard native to the clearnet. Generally speaking, you only need to get a block bypass (just one simple CAPTCHA) once per session and you're set to post as many replies as you need to (threads will still require a CAPTCHA, however).
~ Thousands of posts per day.
Link: http://4usoivrpy52lmc4mgn2h34cmfiltslesthr56yttv2pxudd3dapqciyd.onion/

[bold: Lambdaplusjs]
~ Native to Tor and designed to work without JavaScript. As such, there is no functionality decrease from a noJS Tor setup.
~ Low-hundreds of posts per day.
Link: http://z5lcip4dafatwwa6hvyibizpzwycvwp67cjga3hzjhxhwvuyaqavxnid.onion/ or http://lambdaplusjs35padjaiz4jw2fugdoeutse262phqr72uf634s2wdbqd.onion/

[bold: Nanochan]
~ Native to Tor and designed to work without JavaScript. As such, there is no functionality decrease from a noJS Tor setup.
~ Dozens of posts per day.
Link: http://nanochanqzaytwlydykbg5nxkgyjxk3zsrctxuoxdmbx5jbh2ydyprid.onion/

[bold: Picochan]
~ Native to Tor and designed to work without JavaScript. As such, there is no functionality decrease from a noJS Tor setup.
~ Low-dozens of posts per day.
Link: http://phichannlejbh7u7tvkryemqmi34onsfppkju52qtii3yakyvfh7ifyd.onion/

[bold: Phichannel]
~ Native to Tor and designed to work without JavaScript. As such, there is no functionality decrease from a noJS Tor setup.
~ Ghost town.
Link: http://phichannlejbh7u7tvkryemqmi34onsfppkju52qtii3yakyvfh7ifyd.onion/

[bold: ACADEMIC RESOURCES]

[bold: Library Genesis]
~ Hosts all kinds of texts, ranging from textbooks, scientific articles, fiction, magazines and more. Search and download for free.
Link: https://libgen.rs

[bold: Sci-hub]
~ Hosts [bold: over 88 million] normally paywalled scientific articles to download for free.
Link: https://sci-hub.se

[bold: I would highly recommend opening PDFs in airgapped systems.]

[spoiler: To be continued. I have a [bold: lot] more to mention.]

Local backups of information sources like wikipedia and libgen, hosted on local networks, go a long way to securing a community's information.

Setting up community systems that download and archive media, so only the community local backup ever accesses it, goes a long way to protect a community's information.

That's not an option for everyone, since most people don't have a community that is that organized.

If you're an inventor of any kind, you have to have an airgapped computer and a backup of wikipedia or your invention will simply be stolen by corporations and Feds selling it to corporations.

A single terabyte hard drive can hold wikipedia text and images easily.

I'm not really all that familiar with [spoiler: adult] porn sites but when I go to https://xvideos.com with a noJS Tor setup, only searches work. I can't download any videos. So, as shitty as PornInvidious is, it's still a step up from using XVideos directly. [spoiler: Unless, you know another workaround?]

P8760
>https://pst.klgrth.io/
That doesn't appear to let you play with any of the options without JS but the core functionality (saving) still works.

>you pasted the link for Phichannel under Picochan.
Oopsie. Welp, here's part 2 to my post:

[bold: Picochan]
~ Native to Tor and designed to work without JavaScript. As such, there is no functionality decrease from a noJS Tor setup.
~ Low-dozens of posts per day.
http://picochanwvqfa2xsrfzlul4x4aqtog2eljll5qnj5iagpbhx2vmfqnid.onion

[bold: ANIME, MANGA AND HENTAI-RELATED CONTENT]

[bold: Zerochan]
~ Allows you to browse and search their collection of hundreds of thousands of anime and manga pictures. The vast majority of these can be seen without registering.
~ Registering and contributing is out of the question, however, as their CAPTCHA won't show up without JS enabled.
Link: https://www.zerochan.net

[bold: Gelbooru]
~ Allows you to browse and search their collection of [bold: millions] of anime and manga pictures.
~ As with Zerochan, (((reCAPTCHA))) doesn't load without JavaScript enabled, therefore registering and contributing is out of the question.
~ Content like lolicon, shotacon, and other content the mainstream considers objectionable can be accessed through clicking "My Account" > "Options" > Tick "Display all site content" > "Save." This thankfully does not require an account.
Link: https://gelbooru.com/

[bold: The Big Imageboard]
~ Basically the same deal as Gelbooru, even runs an older version of its software.
Link: https://tbib.org/

[bold: Lolibooru]
~
Link: https://lolibooru.moe/

[bold: Paheal.net's Rule 34]
~ Obviously, nothing needs to be changed to see rule 34 content here, because that's what the site is for.
~ Registration is currently disabled. I haven't tried contacting the staff to see if anything after you log in requires JavaScript. However, from what I've seen, it works perfectly in a noJS Tor setup.
Link: https://rule34.paheal.net/

[bold: Rule34.us]
~ Basically the same deal as Gelbooru and The Big Imageboard, but this site is specifically for rule 34 content.
Link: https://rule34.us/

[bold: Manganato]
~ Currently the best site for browsing manga with a noJS Tor setup. (Other sites can work too, but they're usually sites for one specific manga) If you have the page index for a specific manga (for example, Kuroshitsuji's here: https://readmanganato.com/manga-kd951986), you'll be able to view every chapter that they've gathered, each of them through one link.
~ Despite being the best, there is still quite a lot of functionality that doesn't work. The main limitation is that you can't directly search the site, leaving you to have to either search it via DuckDuckGo by specifying "site:(read)manganato:com [INSERT MANGA NAME HERE]," (which isn't perfect) or hoping that what you're looking for is easily found with the following method:
~ If the manga that you're looking for is popular, you can sort by "HOT MANGA" at the top of the main page, and then selecting the category at the bottom. I found Kuroshitsuji on the second page of "historical," for example.
Link: https://manganato.com/

[bold: MOAR VIDEO SERVICES]

[bold: AltCensored]
~ This site indexes a very large portion of videos from channels that have either gotten the axe from YouTube or soon will, often because said channels were (((deemed racist.))) From what I've seen, they're fetching the videos from archive.org, which means that they aren't hosting it themselves. It might be a good idea to save anything that you're interested in while you still can.
~ Obviously based on Invidious.
~ Videos are usually in 720p.
Link: https://altcensored.com/

[bold: FreeSpeechTube]
~ Is its own video service and not a frontend for videos that were elsewhere. Contains text content as well.
~ The bulk of the userbase are based pedos.
~ Severely limited in a noJS Tor setup, but you're at least able to download videos if you already have the link to them. (For example, https://www.freespeechtube.org/v/11wn) Searching the site through a search engine (site:freespeechtube.org [whatever you're looking for]) can help in finding content.
Link: https://freespeechtube.org/

[bold: ARCHIVES]

[bold: WikiLeaks File Database]
~ Has almost every file WikiLeaks has ever published. No limitations seem to be imposed when you're manually downloading from the browser, but trying to use wget to automatically download files seems to create problems (as I encountered here: P7366).
~ You wouldn't be able to do this over Tor, but I think it is worth noting that a torrent is available that lets you download all of their files automatically here: https://file.wikileaks.org/files-all.torrent
Link: https://file.wikileaks.org/

[bold: IPCE]
~ Supposedly used to be a forum, now serves as an archive for both (((virped))) and pro-contact content, including some scientific articles that you can't find on Sci-Hub.
~ I have not noticed any limitations when using this site in a noJS Tor setup.
Link: https://ipce.info/

Tanks. Give Ponyposter attribution for the pony-related section tho.

Here's part 3. I went short on the descriptions this time (or not provide them) just to get the post out faster. The main reason I provided descriptions in the first place was to mention limitations and how they may or may not be worked around, but almost no blogs here really have any limitations in a noJS Tor setup. (Since the point is just to read what someone else wrote) I still have some more sites to mention but I didn't want to delay this any longer.

Email services? Those are abundant on Tor. Disposable? There's nothing stopping you from using them that way, at least:

[bold: EMAIL SERVICES]

[bold: Note: As with anywhere on the Internet, you should assume everything is being logged in perpetuity. Be sure that anything you actually want private is encrypted BEFORE you upload it, like with using GPG.]

[bold: Daniel Winzen's Services]
~ Provides nearly 50MB per account, with no actual limit to accounts one can create (as you generally can't identify noJS Tor users when they use proper OPSEC).
~ IMAP and POP3 support.
~ Signing up for email gives you an XMPP account with the same address.
~ Also has a chat and onion link list, neither of which require JavaScript.
~ No ads.
~ In my experience the most stable of these services.

[bold: Mail2Tor]
~ Provides 25MB per account IIRC (strangely, I don't see a number after logging in)
~ IMAP support.
~ No ads.
~ Both unstable and a complete pain in the ass to register with most of the time. If you use this, I'd highly recommend giving whoever/whatever you communicate with a backup address.

[bold: MOAR WIKIS]

[bold: BreezeWiki]
[bold: Note: Using this might be counterproductive for anonymity as there is already little limitation on noJS Tor users reading Fandom wiki articles.]
~ Not a wiki in and of itself, but a new frontend. Allows you to search and browse through articles from any wiki on Fandom.
~ One of the only noticeable differences between using this and using Fandom itself is that it gets rid of JavaScript-dependent menus, allowing you to view a little bit of pictures and information that you wouldn't otherwise be able to view. For example, on the original Kuroshitsuji Fandom page, you can't click to view a character's picture in the manga (from the sidebar at the top right: https://kuroshitsuji.fandom.com/wiki/Finnian), while on BreezeWiki, the menu is gotten rid of entirely, displaying both the anime and manga pictures next to each other.
~ Image galleries look a little weird.

[bold: The Incel Wiki]
~ A healthy(?) mixture of autism, memes, and scientific analysis about inceldom and the blackpill.
~ Registration is closed (in general, not just to noJS Tor users) and only certain people are allowed to edit. You are still able to do view just about everything in a noJS Tor setup, however.
Link: https://incels.wiki

[bold: SPECIAL SEARCH ENGINES]

[bold: Ahmia]
~ The massively inferior version of Phobos. Useful when Phobos is down or you just want to type in a short clearnet link to search onionsites.
~ Instead of taking you directly to what you click on, it (((replaces the link with a unique URL on their own website))) that redirects you to the original URL with a (((few seconds delay.)))
Clearnet website: https://ahmia.fi
Onionsite: http://juhanurmihxlp77nkq76byazcldy2hlmovfu2epvl5ankdibsot4csyd.onion

~ A clearnet search engine that's generally focused on simple websites, which in turn means websites that are less dependent on JavaScript.
~ Their "surprise me" option on the search page is a surprisingly good way to find new nanonymity-friendly websites. The only issue is that a good number of them don't use HTTPS.
Link: https://wiby.me

[bold: OTHER LINK LISTS]

These don't follow the exact same rules that my list does. However, since they're lists of onionsites, they're naturally going to feature mostly sites that do.

Best practice is to disable Jewscript on the browser level, not through an extension. Current state of normieweb is that you typically have to load 5 minified 1k line scripts from different sources to get basic functionality. I'm not auditing that and trust that I'll catch everything on everysite. Even if a site is not glowed, less bloat on frontend correlates to less bloat on backend which means lower potential for vulnerabilities. So, no, I'm not trusting Jewscript pajeet soydevs for even the most basic stuff.

That is unfortunate though, I would never use it if I had to (((download an app))) to post.
P13642
The main purpose of this thread is to discuss sites that don't require you to break your anonymity to use them, hence the requirement that they allow Tor posters, don't require JavaScript for core functions, and not be paywalled. Cloudflare, while a concern for a site's stability (if it is in any way politically incorrect), does not deanonymize you just by going to a site (unless you've given the site too much PII, in which case, you've already been deanonymized). Sites that block Tor users with Cloudflare are already disqualified.
